Business or Hobby - It’s All In The Schedule
Are you treating your business like its a business or like its a hobby? Many people treat it as a hobby and wonder why they are not making a decent income from it. The first thing you must understand when going into business for yourself is that you must work your business every day like you would if you were working a regular job.
This can be hard for people and the main reason is they lack the self discipline to do what needs to be done to build their business. This is especially true if their business is a home based business and they work from home. Many people let the daily distractions of their life to get in the way of building their business. This is understandable, however, there is a way to get around this.
When you first start out with your own business (or even if you want to treat today as your first day in your existing business), it is important that you sit down and carve yourself out a schedule that you can realistically work. If your company prints custom stickers but you are often home with children, for instance, and they are young, you might want to schedule your time around their naps. You might be able to work your business for 5 hours straight, or you might have to split those 5 hours out during the course of your day. The important thing is, decide how many hours a day you want to dedicate on your business and schedule them accordingly. Then stick to that schedule daily so you can get done what needs to be done in your business. This is what you would do for a real job. You wouldn’t have a schedule and not stick with it on a regular 9 to 5 job. This is what makes the difference between treating your business like a business and not like a hobby.
