Shift from Print Media to Online Form of Advertisement
Advertising is communication in any form that is targeted for a particular audience and tries to persuade them for taking an action. Print advertising is one of the oldest and most effective methods of advertising. Egyptians used rolls of papyrus as well as wall posters to send advertising message. The first instance of print advertising was recorded in 1836 when the French newspaper La Presse published its first advertisement. The world has changed a lot since then and different media like radio, television, magazines and Internet are used for advertising.
The turn of the century unleashed the Internet in a big way and it is growing at such an exponential rate that soon it will surpass all other form of advertising medium. This has resulted in a huge shift from the print media and more and more companies are now spending money on online advertising.
The main reason for people moving their advertising budgets to the Internet is the wide reach and speed of this medium. Every kind of organizations ranging from those into manufacturing to those who are red diesel suppliers are able to contact a large number of prospective customers immediately. A newspaper has a life of less than a day and most magazines are thrown away within a week. However, the Internet is available 24/7 to thousands and millions of people. The reach of the World Wide Web is huge and is increasing at a breathtaking speed.
The other concern is that the cost of online advertising works out to be much cheaper as compared to print advertising. This is because you only have to pay when someone clicks on your advertisement or visits a website on which you have put up a banner. This saves money and allows the organizations to advertise more at different places and get more business.
