Forum marketing is a great way to gain new contacts and expand your networking outlets. It is also a great way to share information with like-minded individuals and companies. This can be a very advantageous addition to your marketing schemes. Sharing ideas and learning new ideas from similar businesses. But there are a fair number of do’s and don’ts when you decide to engage in forum marketing.
Firstly, most forums frown on shameless self promotion and banners. Do not simply use the forum to boast about your company and try to gain new customers. Forum members see their forums as a privilege and as such, they believe that all members should be contributing something for everyone to enjoy. This means you should not just simply place your contact information and your website in your posts. Offer information and advice that other forum members would be interesting in having. Remember that joining a forum will help you gain new contacts. You do not want to upset fellow forum members. This does not mean you have to keep your business a secret; feel free to include your web address in your signature line.
You should always be searching threads to find a conversation that interests you, and remember to constantly add new posts. This way, you will share your ideas, and those forum members who like your ideas will likely want to create a relationship with you. Try not to attack anyone on the forums. If you want to disagree with someone, don’t be disrespectful or rude. Remain professional and offer your rebuttals like a professional.
Before joining a forum, make sure to take a look at the forum’s rules. If you don’t, you may inadvertently break one, which may result in a banning. This must be avoided. Spend the time to review the rules. Also, spend some time looking through the forum to see if there is enough there for your interests to warrant membership.
